- Scott Churchman- 2011 & Distraction: Don’t sleep on Scott Churchman. It’s not against the law to craft evocative, original music. Some top tracks I suppose are All the You See, Cares For You, & Fade Away. All the same, these albums deserve complete listens.
- Palberta- Palberta5000: It’s not against the law to figure out how to package interesting music inside pop conventions like some kind of Interesting Music Trojan Horse. Or maybe my metrics are off? But to my ear, Palberta’s pulling off some very original harmonic/rhythmic/structural “compositional stuff” with a whole lotta sweet, sweet ear sugar. To me, this is the dream and a rare thing.
- Little Angry & The Sweets- Screamin’ Inside your Heart: It’s not against the dang law to work on evocative and perfect pop songs that also feature VERY FUCKING STRONG AND SINGULAR VOCALS. I’m not saying that everything needs constant refinement or that things aren’t perfect upon birth… I mean, when is something ever actually birthed anyway? I don’t trust the US Supreme Court to weigh in on that.. But, and maybe it’s because it’s not how I’m programmed, I really admire the work and the resulting music LA&TS created here because it’s so clear that they all put the effort in and cared about the thing!

- Mopar Stars: Official Researchers of the NJ Devil I've had this one on blizzard repeat lately. Philly power pop that sounds like it was made for long nighttime drives.
- The Big Box Set A Portland-based music centric public access TV show with skits, animated shorts, and live performances.
- Chronophage: S/T I learned about this band from my CRW colleague Jason. Incredible song craft with influences that are hard to pin down. Their songs move from sad and beautiful to uplifting and life-affirming.

- Otto Benson: Peanut Otto has been around for a minute, making oddball electronic music interspersed with meditative guitar miniatures. Peanut is his first outing into pop songcraft and it is currently haunting my dreams.
- radio.garden Website and app that allows you to discover internet radio from around the world using a globe with stations plotted geographically. You can check out my list of favorite stations by visiting the website, going to settings > receive favorites and entering my code: WGN-JUH
- Critical Listening Podcast Great show hosted by Max Alper (AKA La Meme Young, Peretsky) and Liz Pelly (author of the excellent Spotify takedown Mood Machine) where they discuss their insightful takes on the modern music and culture industries. Bonus Trivia: CL's theme song comes from CRW alumni Eraser.
